  1. Short: All-formats sound converter rel 3.1 (pl9)

  3. SOX, or the Sound Exchange, is a tool for converting between sampled
  4. audio formats.  Written for Unix, bit now available for DOS, VMS,
  5. and Amiga as well, it handles most formats native to these and other
  6. platforms.  Supported formats include:
  7.     - IFF-8SVX
  8.     - AIFF
  9.     - RIFF-WAVE (.wav)
  10.     - Creative Voice File (.voc)
  11.     - Sun audio (.au)
  12.     - NeXT audio (.snd)
  13.     - Mac audio
  14.     - raw audio in 8/16/32 bits; signed, unsigned, or ulaw
  15.     - Turtle Beach .smp
  16.     - some others
  17. SOX is also capable of performing several effects on sound files,
  18. including:
  19.     - rate change (resample)
  20.     - channel mixdown
  21.     - echo
  22.     - vibrato
  23.     - low-, band-, and high-pass filter
  24.     - reverse
  25.  
  26. New to pl9 (Amiga 3.1) are:
  27.     - fixen to WAVE handler, allowing optional RIFF properties
  28.     - high-pass filter
  29.     - miscellaneous other fixen
  30.  
  31. This archive includes four executable binaries for Amigas with any
  32. combination of 68000/680[234]0 processors and no/6888[12] FPU.  Also
  33. included are ASCII conversions of the manuals and an AmigaGuide manual
  34. for the program SOX itself.  As an Amiga bonus you get many shell
  35. scripts and/or aliases for performing specific types of conversions
  36. without the hassle.
